Race, Sports and Telling True Stories

Morgan Campbell

About This Project

His TEDx talk will address race, sports and storytelling. For as long as sports writing has been a profession, white supremacy and sexism have framed influenced the way mainstream media discuss sport. The sooner we learn to stop positioning white men as default and everybody else as deviant, the sooner we can start telling honest and true stories about athletes and the games they play.

Morgan Campbell is a sports writer at the Toronto Star whose work explores the intersection of sports, business and social issues. He’s a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and the winner of the 2003 National Newspaper Award for Sports Writing.
