TEDxUTSC is on their 5th year, a milestone worth celebrating. Our motto of “Ideas Worth Spreading” has helped open minds throughout the Scarborough community. However, do you really know what’s going on behind the scenes? We are divided into three sections to bring you the annual memorable conferences. To give you a better look inside our team, here are a few questions we asked our team!
Marketing and Communications – (Mark-Com)
What is your role as a team?
“To get all TEDxUTSC news out to the public and reach as many people as possible – via social media, word of mouth and other publications. Getting people interested in the conference; to let them know how “lit” it’s going to be.”
What is the most interesting part of your team?
“EVERYTHING – from trying to capture people’s attention and get TEDxUTSC known not just at UTSC but the surrounding community as well to seeing how design affects people’s engagement, working together as a team, experimenting on new ways to increase TEDxUTSC’s presence on campus as well as advertising for the upcoming conference!”
If you had to describe your team in 3 words what would they be?
Action, presence, creation
Program Development – Prog-Dev.
What is your role as a team?
“Recruiting a panel of 12 speakers for the conference. They share ideas, insights, experiences, issues, crises, identities, advice, and more. We ensure that everything towards the speakers is taken care of up till the conference, training and practicing with them to showcase an amazing talk.”
What is the most interesting part of your team?
“Behind-the-scenes consists of working as a team to perfect the puzzle-piece fit of each speaker’s idea within the overarching ellipses theme. Finding that harmony, by building relationships with speakers, is something so special to be a part of!”
If you had to describe your team in 3 words what would they be?
Flawless, slayers, studs
Conference Development – Con-Dev.
What is your role as a team?
“Overlooking the entire logistics of the conference and coordinating items such as sponsorships, finance, securing talent, room bookings and ensuring the set menu for the day of. Basically ensuring that everything the day of the conference runs smoothly.”
What is the most interesting part of your team?
“If the day runs smoothly and you didn’t notice us, we did our job.”
